Why Organic?
Organic is not a simple replacement of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides with organic inputs and biologically active formulations, but it envisages a comprehensive management approach to improve the health and underlying productivity of the soil. In a healthy soil, the biotic components covering organic matter including soil life, mineral particles, air, and water co-exists in a state of dynamic equilibrium and regulates the ecosystem processes in mutual harmony by complementing and supplementing each other. When soil is in good health, the population of fauna and flora multiplies rapidly that sustains the biochemical processes of dissolution and synthesis at a high pitch. Healthy soil provides natural and healthy food ingredients. This state of soil life and the associated organic trans-formations will enhance the regenerative capacity of the soil and makes it resilient to absorb the effects of climatic vicissitudes and occasional failures in agronomic management.
Indus story is very simple and different. Two high technology entrepreneurs wanted to enhance the quality of life for villagers in rural areas. They left corporate Hi-Tech America to start an eco-friendly sustainable organic farming company. Their families have been involved in food and commodity business for several generations. They wanted sustainable and eco-friendly methods to reduce green house affects, water pollution of rivers and promote a healthy society that lives in harmony with nature. They also wanted to bring back the jobs to the rural areas that have been deserted by young generations due to lack of opportunities.

They have started educating thousands of farmers to stop using chemical pesticide, genetically modified seeds and chemical fertilizers. Chemicals have been polluting the Indus Valley that has thousands of years of history. Indus vision is to create supply chain efficiencies in the organic market place so that everyone can afford the organic natural products. Indus mission is to create a fair trade community program to help the small farmers with education, medical facilities and offer the worldwide marketing reach. Today Indus has thousands of farmers working with them throughout India. Indus family members have thousands of hectares of land that is certified to grow organic products. Our partners have 40,000 hectare land to grow variety of organic spices, culinary herbs and medicinal herbs to meet the demands.

India has diversity of soil and weather conditions and hence it is possible to grow variety of products that are not possible in other parts of world. We are growing organic products as per the world wide demand. Our plantations cover tropical fruits like mangoes, lychee (Litchi chinensis), guava, pomegranate, sapodilla (Manilkara zapota) and variety of other fruits. These products will be introduced in form of dehydrated fruits, juice concentrate and natural food colors. All Indus products are certified by CCOF to meet the guidelines of USDA for NOP standards and EEC 2091/2092 for European markets.

We are developing the new eco-friendly recyclable packaging techniques to reduce the energy consumption and save the mother earth. These initiatives are taken in conjunction with leading packaging experts. Indus is interested in developing a packaging methodology so that product life time is not compromised due to light, humidity and other factors.
Indus works with small farmers like Dr. Anurag and Sujatha who opted to be organic farmers after doing research in microbiology and plant genetics. Their team is involved in farmer education and teaching bio-diversity & sustainable organic techniques to remote area small farmers. Indus promotes such activities to make a better living world.

We promote bio-diversity and sustainable organic farming techniques. We work with leading plant experts like Dr. Anurag who was born and brought in Canada and went to India on a United Nations program to do research on plant pesticides, microbiology and plant genetics. He does research on UN grants at his farm in southern India and teaches small farmers about bio-diversity and sustainable agriculture. He grows coffee, vanilla, cardamom, cloves and black pepper at his farm. Indus procures organic products from thousand of these environment conscious farmers and processes them at their plants before bringing them to the worldwide customers.
